Product Selection

What is a decontactor?

A decontactor is a combination electrical plug, receptacle, and disconnect switch in a single device. Decontactors are switch-rated, meaning they can safely make and break connections under full load, overload, and short circuit conditions. They incorporate dead front construction and enclosed arc chambers to protect against arc flash exposure.

What is the difference between the DSN, DS, and DB decontactor series?

The DSN Series features compact design with NEMA 4X watertightness, suited for wet and washdown environments. The DS Series offers higher amperage ranges with metal casing for heavy industrial use. The DB Series provides high horsepower ratings with quick make/break capability for motors with frequent connection requirements.

What industries use Meltric decontactors?

Meltric decontactors are used across many industries including food and beverage processing, mining and aggregates, metals and chemicals, water treatment, marine, healthcare and pharmaceutical, aerospace and defense, construction, entertainment, transportation, and forest products. They are suited for any application requiring safe, switch-rated electrical connections.

Are Meltric decontactors rated for hazardous locations?

Yes. The Meltric DXN and DX Series are specifically designed for hazardous locations. The DXN Series is rated for Zone 1/21 and Zone 2/22 environments with ATEX and CSA certifications, available in 20A to 60A. The DX Series covers Zone 1/21 and 2/22 with ATEX certification in 20A to 100A ratings.
